The Happy Skin Program

IS HERE!

Especially designed to teach you effective strategies to manage your child’s skin health, reducing the likelihood of eczema flare-ups and fostering long-term wellbeing.

Hey there, I'm Lani, a Clinical Nutritionist and proud mum of two beautiful girls, Georgie and Matilda. With a family history of eczema, asthma, and hay fever, I've experienced firsthand the challenges these conditions bring. I know what it's like to feel overwhelmed and uncertain, especially when it comes your children’s health. That's why I created The Happy Skin Program—to provide families with the tools they need to effectively manage eczema.

My passion lies in guiding mothers and children through the intricacies of eczema management. I am committed to empowering individuals with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions about their family's skincare and nutritional needs. Within The Happy Skin Program, my goal is to provide comprehensive strategies for reducing eczema flare-ups and promoting long-term skin health and well-being.

Seeing our children with eczema is heartbreaking!

Seeing our children with eczema is heartbreaking!

Eczema can be debilitating, painful, and deeply damaging to our self-esteem. As parents, we’ll do whatever it takes to stop our children from suffering. We want to understand why this is happening, so we can work towards resolving or managing it. Conventional treatments often focus solely on the skin, and the problem tends to return once steroid creams or medications are stopped. We also worry about the long-term effects of relying on these treatments. It’s difficult not to feel as though we’re missing the real issue when eczema keeps coming back.

There are various ways the state of the gut can impact eczema and skin conditions. Working with a nutritionist can help identify these contributing factors and address them accordingly.

Eczema often presents alongside gut symptoms like bloating, diarrhoea or constipation (or alternating between variations of these), tummy pains or low appetite or picky eating.

Eczema can present as a result of an immune system dysregulation, for example where pro-inflammatory immune cells can perpetuate skin aggravation and flare ups. Our gastrointestinal system houses up to 70% of our immune system, so the state of our gut including the intestinal lining and the microbiome can influence how our immune system functions - this is why looking to the gut is so important!

Alana adopts a holistic approach to addressing the root cause of eczema. Having experienced eczema herself, she understands how frustrating and disheartening it can be to manage. Her own children have gone through periods of flare-ups, which she has successfully managed with dietary changes, microbiome support, and targeted supplements. Using a range of tools and techniques, Alana works to reduce inflammation, strengthen the skin’s barrier, and support the body’s natural healing process to lessen the severity of eczema.
